Gainesville gets sleepy when the temperature spikes. For one, the students are gone, scattered across the state to their respective homes; for another, the sun tends to bake the life out of people, shellacking everyone in a layer of sweat. The best remedy for this is to steer a kayak across the Santa Fe River, climb up one of its many plank-studded trees and launch yourself feet-first into the river. After, devour a Satchel’s pizza and drink something cold and carbonated. Feel revived. Repeat as needed.
